With the Recent Trade Restriction(3k in balance max per trade per 15 minutes) all those who wanted to make money quickly via merchanting are now either scratching their head in confusion or banging the table in outrage. Now, it seems, it is necessary for anyone wishing to make any substantial amounts of money to spend hours working arduously on a boring and tedious skill. However, I have found a loophole in this system, a small gap where you can still merchant and take advantage of the new grand exchange.

Option 1: Caping

Part 1: For the Total Newbie
Read this Only if you are brand new to Runescape and do not as of yet have an established 500-1k gold. In order to amass your beginning wealth, I would recommend first selling everything you got at tutorial island, and then, if that is not enough, going to karamja and picking bananas for the man in the hut. If you don’t mind getting your hands a little bloody you can opt to kill chickens and sell their feathers. 100 should be enough.

Part 2: Making Your First Sale
Now, after you have about 500gp go to Varrock. Travel to the east bank, and take the road directly north of it and continue going north until you hit a large ‘wilderness ditch.’ Here you are going to click on the ditch and select ‘yes’, or ‘cross,’ or whatever it says. now travel directly north until you find a cave. On the larger orb map in top right corner you should see what looks like a red star remember where that is for later. Now continue traveling until you hit a river of lava. Follow the coastline of the lava until you can go south on the other side of the lava. There you should find a man with a giant bundle strapped to his back. right click on him and select Trade. Buy as many capes as you can afford.

***IF you can afford to buy more capes than your inventory allows you to hold***

Go back to the red star on the map, and go inside the cave. Walking through the cave, you should find another man with a giant bundle on his back. He is a bank. Right click on him, select bank, and deposit your capes. Then return to the other man, buy more capes, and repeat the process. Do this as many times as necessary until you have spent all your gold.

After you have completed your cape purchasing, return to Varrock. Go to the Varrock west bank, or big bank. To the north of the bank there should be a dirt path. Follow it until you reach a giant hexagonal area. This is the grand exchange. If this is your first time going to the grand exchange, talk to the grand exchange tutor at the entrance. Then go up to one of the Grand Exchange(also called GE) clerks, right click, and select “exchange clerk”. Click on the sell button on one of the two non member trade boxes, and sell all of your capes at MINIMUM PRICE!!! I

f you want this to go fast, sell at the minimum for speed, especially for small things like this, where the difference is only a few gold per item. After all those capes have sold, use the money from them to go back up and buy more capes. This cycle continues until you are satisfied with your incomes.

Tips and Notes
- Once it is taking more than 10 runs to use up all your money, you should start hiring a noob. Offer him 100gp per run, and have him go to bank, deposit your capes, note them, and return them to you. Each time he does this, give him 100gp. While he is going to bank, you are going to go to the bank and note more capes that you buy, otherwise it defeats the whole purpose. After it is taking more than 10 runs this way, hire more noobs.

- This is not the fastest way to make money, just a good way to make fast money without a skill.

- Capes can take a while to sell in the GE, so be patient. IF you want them to sell faster, buy different color capes and sell them at differnt times. Also rarer capes sell faster, so go deeper into the wilderness to discover the other capemen is a good idea.

Option 2: Limited GE Merchanting
This notion is simple compared to the other one, although it requires more money and patience and in return will pay better.

After you have done the other merchanting skill for a while, or done something else, and amassed about 100k you should look into GE merchanting.

The idea is simple, so I will keep this short. Go to the Grand Exchange, and find a massively sold item, like big bones or steel bars(I recommend steel bars or iron ore) and buy out your cash with them. Only buy them at market-to minimum price. You may have to wait a while for them to appear. Now bump the price up to market thru max price and resell them. tada! Now you are on your way to make the big dollars.
