Runescape Desert Treasure and Prequest Guide

   Posted by: admin    in Uncategorized

Rumours abound throughout Varrock and Al-Kharid that an archaeologist has discovered clues to a hoard of treasure hidden deep in the desert, south of Al-Kharid.

Anybody prepared to offer him assistance in his treasure hunting could well find themselves benefitting from a very large reward indeed.

The “Desert Treasure” quest in online game “RuneScape” is generally considered to be one of the hardest quests to complete. It involves several difficult battles and opens some new areas to the north. This quest is also very rewarding because it gives you the ghostly robes which are very famous in our day’s and also lets you equipped Ancient staff which can let you preform Ancient Magicks which includes the famous spell ice burst which frezzes your opponent for 10 seccounds will hitting them with 30 damage every 5 secounds… ice busrst is only availible at level 70 and this quest and staff is members same witht the Ancient Magicks book.
What is the prequest of desert treasure?

You have to complete the following quest before you do desert treasure.
Digsite Quest
The Tourist Trap
The Temple of Ikov
Priest in Peril
Waterfall Quest
Troll Stronghold
Skill Requirements of desert treasure?

Level 10 slayer
Level 50 fire making
Level 50 magic
Level 53 thieving
Step 1:

Talk to the Archaeologist in the western desert. He gives you a note to take to the Digsite exam center. Return to the Archaeologist then buy a beer from the bartender. Talk to the bartender then speak with Eblis to the east. Give him the items he wants to get the Scrying Glass.

Step2:

Go to the south where there is a circle of mirrors and you will discover four diamonds you must collect.

Four Diamond and boss of shadow of desert treasure?

The Diamond of Shadow Boss: Damis

Teleport to ardougne, then head north untill you get just south of the baxtorian falls. Now, near a big fenced area, you should see a man called Rasool. He will tell you that he knows how to get one of the diamonds, but he wants you to get a gilded cross, that was stolen by the bandits, back, as it has sentimental value to him.

Teleport to Al-Kharid, then bring ALL your lock picks, and some food, and a couple antipoisons. Go all the way south to the bandit camp (where you bought the beer) and head to the southern-most tent.

Go inside, and there should be a chest. Use your lockpick with it, but if you fail to pick all three locks(he/she does it one at a time) you will break your pick. You won’t be poisoned unless there is a message at the bottom saying so, so don’t use antipoison by mistake. If you need more lockpicks or antipoison, you can pick the bandits, as they give you both of these.

Go back to Rasool, and give him the gilded cross you find in the chest, and he will give you the ring of visibility. Now, go to the seemingly-pointless enclosed area just near him, and wear the ring.(be ready to beat the final boss of shadow before going in.)

Head to the very large room on your map, and you should see Damis. Kill the first form, then when fighting the second form there are a couple options:

Go around until you trap him in between a rat so that he cannot get to you(there are giant rats somewhere, shown in picture. Mage/range him.
Go to the northern part, and look for a corpse, trap him behind this, and mage/range him.
Just fight him with a whole ton of prayer potions, and hope for the best. This strategy is the hardest, but it is the best if you cannot seem to find the other two ones.

Pick up the Diamond of shadow, and teleport/run back out again. This time we’re going to Canfis.
The Diamond of Blood Boss: Dessous

Go to the Canfis bar, and when you enter, you will see a cutscene. Talk to Malak after that and tell him that you are looking for a diamond, and he will tell you who has it. He wants you to kill a vampire named Dessous and he will tell you how to kill him.

Go to draynor, and go down the trap door, (there is one inside the jail, and one just outside draynor), and there is a man named Ruantan living there. Appearantly, he knows how to make a vessel to draw out Dessous. Give him the silver bar, and he’ll make it into a silver pot. Go to Entrana, and get it blessed by the high priest in the church.

Go back to malak, and he will deal a 5 to you(to get blood) and the silver pot will be full of blood. Use the pestle and mortar with the garlic, and then use the powedered garlic and spices with the pot. Get ready to fight Dessous, then go to the next step.

What I recommend is that you bring 2 prayer pots, and the rest should be food better than swordfish. If you want to range him, bring ranger armour. If you want to melee him, bring melee armour. Now, go to the trapdoor behind the bar, and go out into the swamp. Go across the bridge, and head towards a graveyard(i forgot the direction, but if you are facing off the bridge it is left. If you are ready, use your pot with the big grave in the middle.

The best way to fight, is with melee. Use protection from ranged, then use normal melee against him. He will attack with melee, but his ranged atttack is far worse. If you are a ranger, then use protection from melee, stand behind the gate, and range him(or mage him).(if you use protection from ranged, he will teleport up to you.)

He doesnt drop a gem! Go back to Malak, and he will give you the diamond of blood.

The Diamond of Ice Boss: Kamil

Go to Trollheim and walk to the northern ice gate, and give the troll child a cake. He will tell you that he froze the enterance, and that you could squeeze through.

Proceed to kill 5 ice trolls. The best way is to use fire spells. Once you have done this, I would recomend teleporting out, and getting more food and armour for the next part, cause this next boss I found the hrdest.

Go through the little cave, and use protection from melee past the wolves, and you will feel an evil pressence. You should see kamil now.

Only use protection from melee when closer, then start blasting him with fire bolt(or fire blast if you’re really high, fire strike if you’re low). If you are about to die, teleport out. Also, drink restore and prayer pots, if you’re prayer or magic gets to low. I WOULD NOT recommend meleeing him.

Now, once he is dead, continue along the path untill you see this big path of ice(if its infront of you). Wear your spiked boots, and go along the path, you will fall, and be dealt 2s. Continue through the gate, and across the ice bridge

Use fire spells on the two trolls to melt the ice, and talk to them. They will teleport you back to the kid, and he will give you the last gem, the ice diamond.

The Diamond of Smoke Boss: Fareed

Go back to the mirrors, and head more south-east. You should see a smoking well near a cliff wall. Wear your face mask(get from slayer masters), and climb down the well.

Let your energy get to 100% and walk to the most northeast of the cave. Set to run, then use your tinderbox with the torch. Run to the southeast torch, light it, then northwest, then northwest(lighting all along the way), and finally southwest.

Run to the middle, and open the chest. If the torches run out then you will have to light them all over again. You will find a key. Go to the east part of the cave, and get ready for a battle, before using you key with it.

Go in, and kill Fareed, and pick up the gem. Now, either teleport or walk all the way back out.
Step 3: The Pyramid of Azzanadra

The Pharaoh’s Sceptre, found in the Pyramid Plunder mini game, can be used to teleport directly to the pyramid to switch to or from Ancient Magicks if it is charged. The Sceptre can have up to 3 charges. You may not want to use this in the quest as you don’t want to die with it.

Armor- Light and Melee defensive as Possible
Helm- None
Cape- Spotty or Spottier Cape
Amulet- Defense/Gnome Amulet of Protection or Camulet (from Enakhra’s Lament quest)
Arrows- N/A
Weapon- Ddp++ or Whip (if a Stranger attacks, turn auto retaliate off)
Body- Dragonhide if you use the Camulet, Desert Robes if not
Shield- Defender or Holy Book
Legs- Dragonhide if you use the Camulet, Desert Robes if not
Gloves- Penance Gloves (recommended) or Recipe for Disaster gloves
Boots- Boots of Lightness
Ring- Life
Note: You will want to be able to run as long as possible and have as much Defense as possible in this part.
These are the items you will need if you have already banked after placing the gems and are using a Camulet

Inventory:

5+ Super Energy 4 dose
2+ Anti Poison 4 dose
Prayer Potions 4 dose if you want to use protect from melee
Fill the rest of your inventory with food, Lobster or better and weighing as little as possible (if you are a Pure you will want Sharks)
The 4 diamonds, Shadow, Smoke, Ice, and Blood (or you can do the diamonds first and bank to use those 4 spaces)
1 Shantay Pass and 100-200gp for Magic Carpet (or the Camulet) (non if you use the Camulet)
1 Full Waterskin (non if you go from Enakhra’s temple)
Withdraw the 4 Diamonds last and head to Eblis. Talk to him and then go to the Pyramid (marked out of the RS map as Pyramid south of Eblis and east of Enakhra’s Temple). There are 2 Sphinx statues in front of the Pyramid.
Place each of the gems on the correct obelisk (smoke and shadow may be confusing, nothing happens if you get one wrong).
When all 4 obelisks are pulsing with colored light head to the top of the pyramid go through the doors and down the ladder. Each ladder is a safe point so stop there to drink energy/prayer potions and eat food.
This is a dangerous place and you may fall down a trap door completely randomly and be taken back outside the pyramid, no damage is dealt when you fall through a trapdoor.

Keep run on all the time and try to stop only at each ladder. You will be attacked by level 103 Mummies that wander the pyramid and can do up to 25+ damage. If you have 60+ defense, they will hit around 13 with lots of zeros, but they strike quickly and may land a high hit. Also a level 93 Scarab may randomly appear in front of you and attack you. When a Scarab begins to appear you will stop moving and will not be able to run again until it has fully appeared (it only take about a second to appear), once it has fully appeared it will attack you and can poison you, doing 2+ poison damage. If this happens wait for it to form and move your character again as quickly as possible.

If you are poisoned then drink your Antipoison and keep running. Once you have made it all the way to the bottom Azzanadra is in a chamber behind a door that is not marked on the map. Open the door and you are safe (Scarabs may appear in here, if this happens then kill it so you can talk to Azzanadra).

Talk to Azzanadra and you will be granted the use of ancient Magicks and switch your magic book to Ancients. If Azzanadra is not there, then try to use the altar and he will appear. Quest complete!
Reward of Desert Treasure ?

1)20,000 Magic experience

2)Ring of Visibility - allows you to start the Ghostly Robes Mini-Quest.

3)Ability to wield the Ancient Staff. If you lose the staff, you will have to kill Mummies inside the pyramid or the chaos tunnels to get another one or purchase a new one at the Grand Exchange

4)Ability to use ancient Magicks. At any time you can pray at the altar and change between the standard and Ancient Magicks spellbooks. Be warned that changing spellbooks will drain your prayer to 0. You can still change spellbooks if your prayer is already 0. After completing the pyramid the first time, you may enter via the back-door of the pyramid to gain a short cut to the altar.
